You will be the senior person on site in charge of all aspects of operations (quality, supply chain/procurement, production, personnel, planning, distribution in China, service, equipment maintenance, production problem solving etc) for a range of products requiring advanced mechanical and electronic assembly as well as production of key components in a precision machine shop environment.
Some of the products have demand that is highly cyclical.

The site is the main Asia manufacture site for the Group and as such will adopt the production of other products in the future. 

There are approximately 250 employees on site. A western style of management is established.

Primarily Responsible to the Group Managing Director (UK) and with support required to other GMs in the group. 

Suitable candidates 

Must have:

* Understanding of written and spoken Mandarin Chinese language,(preferable not compulsory)
* Experience managing manufacturing operations in China,
* Experience in managing and bringing manufacturing operations from other countries, i.e. USA or UK, into China.

Substantial operations management experience preferably in a precision assembly / advanced electronics to niche markets. (Low volume high mix environments) Some medium volume production experience.

Experience of complex component manufacture in a vertically integrated company.

Technical background (BSc. In a technical discipline) - able to be directly involved in the resolution of technical issues (mechanical and/or electrical/electronic.)

Track record of continuous improvement at a managerial level.

Experience of delivering western style human resources policy.

Experience of international networking.

Capable of dealing with a wide variety of customers.

Good English essential to receive communication from multiple European and USA based colleagues. 

If ethnic Chinese then will have had substantial business experience outside of China.

If non - Chinese then must have solid of experience of working directly with a Chinese manufacturing operation.
